Our classes are guided explorations through wheel-throwing and hand-building, taught by an experienced teacher in our community. We welcome potters of all levels. Our studio is set up to teach technique and unlock creative channels, while deepening appreciation for historical contexts and forms. The classes are six weeks long and meet once a week for three hours. Two of those hours are guided by the teacher, with demos and hands on instruction, and the last hour is for practice and self-guided work.

During your six week class, you are given 15 hours of studio time, and all materials are included (clay, glaze, tools).

Our workshops range from beginner-friendly wheel throwing sessions to in-depth explorations of traditional forms, with so much more between. Come make your own ceramic whistle, or create your alter ego in the form of a clay mask, make ceramic coasters, and more!

Mac Clay is the first ceramic studio solely focused on classes, workshops and events in McMinnville. We believe in strengthening community by deepening all of our understandings of ceramic art — whether wheel throwing technique, pinch pots, Instagram trends or pre-historic forms. But there’s more: we don’t only make beautiful things; we explore new dimensions of ourselves and how we relate to each other. Mac Clay is honored to enter a conversation with the Yamhill County area. So follow along as we kick off a series of events that introduce ourselves while recentering a craft that developed lock-step with humanity itself.
