Creative Flow with Misha

Class: $65 / Ages 18 and up
Instructor: Misha Micheau

In this hand-building workshop you'll access new creative pathways through meditation, grounding exercises and inner work. At the end of this workshop, you'll have a vase that we'll glaze and fire. We'll notify you when the pieces are ready for pick up, and will include Creative Aftercare instructions. The class is all about flow and intuitive touch, and will look something like this:

-  After you settle in and get acquainted with the studio, we'll get clay in your hands and begin class.
-  Misha will lead us in a grounding meditation while making pinch pots (switching between eyes open and eyes closed.)
-  Now we enter the process of making the abstract tangible, embodying the tension between “reaction” and “response”. We’ll make three pinch pot vessels in ten minutes.  For the first ten minutes we’ll focus on our child-self as we make; ten minutes with our future selves and ten minutes with our present selves.
-  We'll have an opportunity to journal for a few minutes, integrating any thing that came up. Students will also have a chance to take a break.
-   We will reengage our present selves with a final coil building pot; we’ll roll coils, score, slip and attach them to make a small vase.

This class really embraces the creative flow aspect of pottery, and we promise you'll leave more in touch with yourself and your artistic visions.

Coming This Summer To McMinnville

Mac Clay is the first ceramic studio solely focused on classes, workshops and events in McMinnville. We believe in strengthening community by stoking conversations and deepening understanding of ceramic practice — whether wheel throwing technique, pinch pots, Instagram trends or pre-historic forms. Wherever you are on your ceramic journey, we will meet you at the place where curiosity, passion and technique find form.
Think of Mac Clay as a town square for all things ceramic. Whether you’re taking a multiweek class at our Downtown location, attending a weekend masterclass, or reserving space in the studio for the day, we exist to help you access the magic of clay creation. Our mission is to serve both the beginner and advanced studio potter in a safe, vibrant environment. But there’s more: we don’t only make beautiful things; we explore new dimensions of ourselves and how we relate to each other. Mac Clay is honored to enter a conversation with the Yamhill County area. So follow along as we kick off a series of events that introduce ourselves while recentering a craft that developed lock-step with humanity itself.
